Halloween is the ultimate excuse to unleash your inner child & get a little wild! Seriously, when else do we get to don ridiculous costumes, tell ghost stories, & scavenge for candy like we're on a treasure hunt? It’s like a sanctioned playdate for adults, where societal norms take a backseat & creativity takes the wheel.
Interestingly, Halloween has its roots in Samhain, an ancient Celtic festival marking the end of the harvest season & the beginning of winter. It's believed that during Samhain, the veil between the living & the dead is thinnest, allowing for a night of communion with spirits & ancestors. Today, this bash is still the ultimate community shindig! It gathers everyone—alive or otherwise—into a dazzling parade of costumes & decorations, cranking up the fun & connection to a whole new level while tethering us to macabre themes.
The macabre invites us to confront life's darker themes in a safe & engaging manner, allowing for reflection & understanding of difficult topics like death & loss. Embracing elements of the eerie or grotesque can provide a unique lens through which we process our fears & emotions, ultimately fostering deeper connections within our communities.
So, let’s embrace the spooky spirit & dive headfirst into this festival of imagination! After all, when we allow ourselves to play & laugh like we did in our childhood, we not only brighten our own lives but also remind everyone around us that joy & creativity are timeless.
You don't need an excuse to let your inner child indulge. Halloween just happens to be a great one. Remember, You're never too old to play. A matter of fact, it may keep you feeling young!
